[Journey to the Orient by Jason Branton]
We make our way towards the orient
Excitement and ambition kept within our chest
The large bird drops us into the lights
Of the city we fit in best
The treasures that await us, such a prize
We’ll be the first to see the sun rise
As millions of onlookers bow, I wonder how
We could ever leave this place
As we make our way through the crowded streets
I come across a large jade gem
I quickly reach to grab for it, keep it hidden in our bag of treats
We walk hand in hand to the highest point
At the foot of a hill we sit and rest
I close my eyes and lay my ahead across your breast
And you reach in to expect the spoils of our day
Out comes the gem, startled, you begin your delay...
The sun travels through it’s wordly list
But at our hill is where it will finally set
I look up to you, this I can’t resist
To hide the smile from when our eyes first met
I lean up and our lips slowly meet, nothing can compete
Witht he fireworks in the crowded streets and in my heart
For I know the day will surely come, just as hearts grow numb
That you and I and our lovely hill will grow apart
