[Music | Aya Ueto]
 Introduction:
Aya first attracted national attention by participating in the 7th All Japan National Beauty Contest, in
which she won the special choice award by judges. Aya was born on September 14th 1985 in Tokyo Japan. Her first
television role came in the year 2000 when she starred in the movie “Namida wo fuite” as
14 year old Fuchigama Momo. Her first groundbreaking performance was for the movie “3 Nen B Gumi Kinpachi Sensei”,
in which she played Tsurumoto Nao, a girl suffering from sexual identity disorder. Her passionate performance
captivated many people, and as a result she would later be cast for the TBS hit series “My Little Chef”
and the 2003 drama series “Koukou Kyoushi”. Her second lead role would be in “Hito natsu no papa e”,
in which she played a girl named Marimo who goes to look for her father after the death of her mother. Aya also
did the voice over for Jane in the movie “Peter Pan 2: The Return to Never Never Land”. Her
first feature film “Azumi” was shown in theaters around march of 2003 and was a hit with the public.
Her carreer as model also flourished in 2001 when Aya appeared on the High School Baseball
Association’s Posters as Miss July. In august of the same year, she did a commercial for Nisshin Food
Productions’s new noodle product. In March 2002, she starred in another TV commercial, this time for
Nivea’s 8x4 Deodorant spray. Around the same time she also did a promotion for Coca Cola’s new
“Treasure Tea” product. Later in October she shot two more commercials for Bandai, one for their
Karaoke station and one for Gundam Seed Action figures. In 2003 she did several more commercials in which she
sung the background music.
Aya’s musical career started in 1999 when she formed the band Z-1 with Mami Nejiki, Mai Fujiya and Manami Nishiwaki.
The band released 5 singles, but they scored no hits and the band soon broke up. Two years later, in 2002, Aya
signed up with Pony Canyo to start her solo career. Her first single, “Pureness” was a success
as it came in on number 4 on the Japanese Oricon Charts.
Her next two singles would also be in the top ten of the charts, and her first album “AYAUETO”
came in on number 5 of the charts when it was released on March 12th 2003. Aya had many more successful
singles and also released a second album, “MESSAGE” on March 3rd of 2004.
Aya herself was very surprised with her success as a singer. At the end of her first nationwide
tour, she was congratulated on-stage by Japanese fashion icon Yonekura Ryoko
on her successful tour. Her new single Usotsuki came out on November 17th, and can be ordered through
Yesasia. Aya is also starring in the Live Action
version of the anime Ace wo Nerae, which you can find for download here.
Aya’s third album Re., will be released on December 8th of this year and will cost
approximately $29.95.
