Millennial Fair – Serial Experiments Lain

Introduction:
There are two different worlds, the real word with its every day happenings and the digital world, otherwise known as The Wired. Connection to the Wired is possible through NAVI’s. Certain people get a whole different personality once they’re connected to the Wired.
Serial Experiments Lain is the story of Lain Iwakura, who learns more about the Wired than the average human. The story of Lain starts when a classmate of Lain, Chisa Yomoda, commits suicide. Everyone in Lain’s class receives an e–mail from her. Lain, who is inexperienced at NAVI’s and mail, hooks up a NAVI, and reads it. The mail from Chisa tells her to kill herself, and join her in the Wired.
But instead of blindly following Chisa’s idea, she upgrades her NAVI, and starts collecting information about the NAVI. Soon, she’ll find out that the real world may not be as real as she thinks it is. What will Lain discover in the Wired? Who is the other Lain? All this and more will be shown in Serial Experiments Lain.
Unlike “regular” anime, Serial Experiments Lain only has 13 episodes. When you first see it, it will probably be very hard to understand, and hard to follow, and it will leave a lot of questions. But Lain is one of the anime which didn’t reveal more than that was needed, and is very succesfull because of that. Though it is a bit slow sometimes, it’s certainly worth your time to watch it, and I recommend it to everyone who likes sci–fi anime with difficult stories.
