Millennial Fair – Cowboy Bebop Characters Page

Spike Spiegel (Top)
Occupation: Bounty Hunter
Intro: For several years, Spike has been a bounty hunter, cruising around space with his partner,
Jet Black, catching anyone or anything with a bounty on its head. His cool, laid back and care–free
attitude is what makes Spike such a great character, but Spike is in fact what one might call a “hot head”
with a short temper, a temper which not many would like to trigger, as Spike is extremely skilled in several
forms of combat, especially that of gunsmanship and martial arts, which was inspired by the famous martial artist,
Bruce Lee. Spike is usually focussed upon his target, but at times behaves irrationally due to his very
mysterious past. He was once in a crime syndicate known as the Red Dragon, but left due to personal reasons.
These personal reasons include his ex–friend and now long time rival, Vicious, and the only woman he has
ever truly loved, Julia. His becoming a bounty hunter seems to have been heavily influenced due to these two
individuals, as he wants to find them both for very different reasons, reasons that will decide his fate.
Jet Black (A.K.A. Black Dog) (Top)
Occupation: Bounty Hunter
Intro: Before Jet joined Spike as partners in hunting those with bounties upon their head
around the galaxy, he was a member of the ISSP, hunting wanted criminals. As a result of him being
known to “bite criminals and never let go”, he earned himself the alias “Black dog ”.
His past in the ISSP is what led him to him continuing his life as a bounty hunter; part of that past
being his losing his right arm and the scar across his face. However, this is only part of the reason on as
to why he left, the other being a woman called Alisa, who’s connection with Jet is currently unknown.
After having worked with Spike for two years, Jet has worked up a healthy relationship with his partner, and Jet
seems more like a brotherly figure towards Spike, as he is constantly looking out for him (not that Spike
listens much). Most of the time, Jet is level–headed and always quick to come up with a solution to a
problem, but, just like Spike, has been known to lose his temper.
Faye Valentine (Top)
Occupation: Bounty Hunter
Intro: To put it in the simplest context, Faye is in a lot of debt. She forces herself upon
Spike and Jet in hope of acquiring money from successful bounty heads captured by the Bebop team, but
her joining the team leads to much more than she had ever bargained for. One of her worst habits is
her constant gambling; although she may acquire a significant amount of money to go towards her
enormous debt, she usually just gambles it away. Despite her harmless appearance, Faye is extremely
skilled in hand–to–hand, space, and gun combat, and although Spike and Jet act around her
as a constant irritant, she is in fact a great asset to the Bebop and is essential in many of the
bounty heads they seek. Her past is shrouded in mystery; the reason behind her having such a huge
debt to pay, her actual age, date of birth or place of birth are of no knowledge to that of anyone
she has ever known in this day and age, but the answers she seeks for may very well be found when
travelling with the Bebop.
Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivrusky 4th (Top)
Occupation: Computer Hacker/ Bounty Hunter
Intro: Ed is a very famous computer hacker who goes by the alias of “Radical Edward”
in the computer world. Mysteries cloud who she really is and what she really is; some believe her to be an
alien, others believe her to be religious, but her true identity is only known by that of her long lost
father and the crew of the Bebop, whom she had had an obsession upon and forced herself upon the group
once they travelled to Earth. Ed is in fact a fun loving, care free and mischievous 13 year old who does
as she pleases and is, in my opinion, most definitely the funniest crew member of the Bebop. Although Ed
acts as if she has no care in the world and she believes the sole reason she wished to board the Bebop was
due to her thinking she could gain some fun from doing so, she in fact has a very mysterious past and as
a result of joining the Bebop crew, not only will she ultimately solve the mysteries of her life, but the
lives of those she travels around space with...
Ein (Top)
Occupation: Pet
Intro: At first glance, Ein is merely a common Welsh Corgi whom has no purpose other than
being a loyal companion. However, Ein isn’t your everyday Welsh Corgi and is in fact smarter
than most humans. This is due to the vast amount of experimentation performed upon Ein since he was
just a puppy, but the only thing this changed was his wits, not his loveable nature. In session 2 of
Cowboy Bebop, Ein is perused by that of a bounty head, as he is worth a pretty penny upon his
capture. This all goes wrong when Ein takes a liking to Spike and decides to invite himself on the
Bebop. Despite Spike not really liking animals, he grows fond of Ein, even though it may not seem
like it. Ein can usually be found hanging with Ed on the Bebop. When not doing so, he is sleeping,
eating (or more accurately, wanting to be fed) or getting tormented by Faye, who never really liked
the pooch ever since their first encounter.
Julia (Top)
Occupation: Unknown
Intro: Julia, the only woman Spike had ever loved, the woman who’s name when mentioned
causes Spike’s mind to shift to another place, the woman who is as deadly as she is beautiful.
From the few flashbacks we see of Spike’s past, it is clear that Julia is a prime link in the
relationship between herself, Spike, and Vicious, and perhaps she was the one who caused the two, who
once saw each other as brothers, to become bitter rivals. Does she truly care for Spike as much as he
does for her, or was this tragic love never meant to be? Spike will forever seek that truth; his
truth, the truth that keeps him going at times, but what will the truth cost him? Ultimately, that
lies in the hands of Julia, but her actions will not only determine the fate of herself, Spike, and
Vicious, but also those who are closer to Spike than he even knows.
Vicious (Top)
Occupation: Member of the Red Dragon Syndicate
Intro: Vicious was once romantically involved with Julia, while being the best of friends with
Spike. They had both worked for the syndicated known as the “Red Dragon”, and were the
best at what they did. However, once Julia’s love shifted towards that of Spike, Vicious
instantly became bitter rivals with his once long–time friend, and became obsessed with
wanting to take his life. Spike was believed to have been killed three years ago, which was his
escape in leaving the syndicate and becoming a bounty hunter, but Vicious knew better and persisted
in trying to hunt him down. Their skills are evenly matched, their past with one–another tragic,
their relationship bitter, but what will be the outcome when the two finally meet?
